I absolutely HATED this in the book and I was hoping it wouldn’t be in the movie. Actually, the more I think about it, this book is not going to translate to film well at all. The things these two teenagers say to each other is so unrealistic and, yes, pretentious. I loved the book, but I recognized how ridiculous some of it was, but I still loved the unique, humor-filled love story of two teenagers with cancer. The trailer seems to suggest that some of the humor has been replaced and that is really frustrating.
